Monopole on iTunes!

My new album is now on iTunes! Click here!

Or, if you prefer CD, click here. Perhaps you’re anti-iTunes? Then try my Bandcamp. :-)

I’m very proud of ‘Monopole.’ It was a huge struggle to get it finished, through separation/divorce, horrible family illnesses and all the subsequent fall-out those events entail.

But now it’s done and my baby is out there in the world. Please take care of it and give it hugs. :-)

New Video – Invisible Elastic

Here’s another track from my new album, ‘Monopole,’ (you can buy it here). My friend Laura is starring in it and she did a wonderful job following my tyrannical direction. “CRY NOW! TEARS! I WANT TEARS, WOMAN!”

Enjoy! :-)

Busy Bee – New White Town Singles

I’ve been mad busy the last couple of weeks, mastering album tracks and also making pop vids. It’s been hectic!

For this album, I’m planning to release a vid for every track on the album. It’s partly because people only seem to share YouTube links for music now and partly because I want to push myself further as a film-maker and this is an excellent way to do it.

Here’s the first one (excluding ‘Cut Out My Heart‘ which I made last year):

‘Missing Her Again’ is a track I wrote way back in 1987. I decided to re-visit it for this album as it seems to fit my life again in lots of ways, sadly. I recorded a version way back then and it’s funny listening to my voice with a different, younger timbre.

And here’s the one I stuck up yesterday:

This song is a year old and it comes out of a similar place to ‘Missing Her Again’ in that it’s a love song written about someone who isn’t around any more. Here’s a more detailed explanation from a Facebook exchange I had:

And I filmed another vid with my friend Laura on Tuesday. I’ve got a little production line going! :-)

New Song And Video – ‘Cut Out My Heart’

Hello! Although I’ve been doing a lot of moping and licking my wounds, I’ve also been busy with music. And video! Check out what I’ve been up to:

I shot the vid on my lovely 5Dmk 2 and finished the edit (in iMovie) this Monday night, around 3.30am. So, it’s hot off the… er… Mac Pro?

The song pretty much sums up where I am now, it’s a snapshot of my emoness, I’ve just snuggled that negativity in quite an upbeat-sounding wrapper. It’s from my new album which should be coming out some time in early ’11.

Thanks to Kelly and Nat for agreeing to star in it and braving the cold!

Merry Crimbo!

Crimbo Pengies - 03

Hello! Even though I’m a bit of a bahhumbug when it comes to Crimbo, I thought I’d give you all a little pressie this year. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the present of the Mental At 5am EP!

Did you read this rambling post? Read it now? Good!

Well, the night I talk about there, the night that Mattias Cosy Den stayed over is when I recorded this live, acoustic EP. We stayed up very late and I chose one of my own songs plus a couple of covers that I love. Here’s what’s on the EP:

1. Death In Kettering
This is one of mine, taken off the last album, ‘Don’t Mention The War.’ I love doing this song acoustically, I don’t know why. It’s just one of the purest songs I’ve written. Whenever you write a song, you have the idea of it in your head and then, after a while, you have the finished thing. Mostly, the reality will diverge from the idea. But ‘Death In Kettering’ is probably the closest I’ve got to the idea yet.

2. Mellow Doubt
Probably my favourite Teenage Fanclub song. It’s such fun to play and sing. I first worked it out when I was on a promo tour of Germany in 1997. I was on my own in a hotel room, missing my wife terribly and feeling totally isolated. All I had was my guitar and this song on my CD walkman (yep, it was that long ago!).

3. It Doesn’t Matter Two
Like every true Depechie, my favourite album is ‘Black Celebration.’ And this sublime love song is off that classic. I think it’s prime Martin Gore: sex, death, lust, nihilism, existentialism all wrapped up in catchy melodies and sharp lyrics. And it sounds a bit Russian too, for some reason.

4. Mattias
This is Mattias signing off the night in Swedish. I do hope he’s not being rude!

If you’d like to have this EP, just click here and I’ll be yours in a jiffy.

I hope you enjoy it, have a lovely festive season and a wonderful 2010!
love and kisses,
Jyoti

Death In Kettering (Acoustic Version)

Death In Kettering

Hello!

This evening, I was feeling a bit woolly and reflective, remembering how much fun it was to play in Stockholm last week. So I recorded an acoustic version of ‘Death In Kettering’ and I thought I’d share it with you lovely peeps. It’s the sound of me around 8.30pm!

You can hear it and also download the mp3 for free by clicking here.

The track was recorded straight to stereo, no overdubs or studio magix, all I’ve done is EQ it a bit. So it’s a bit rough but quite representative of what I sound like live with just a guitar (ie, a bit rough).

Hope you like it!
love and kisses,
Jyoti

PS – And the original electronic version is available to listen for free or buy here.
