I like this song a lot and if your going to sample something, I’m glad it’s from the 20’s..great video as well! I play music from the 20’s and 30’s only..more country/delta blues though. I’d love a video like this one for my band..someday, perhaps!

I have only recently discovered your music but I have already done some research into it (the faq’s here, wiki, youtube). You mentioned that you sampled a song for “Your Woman”. How would you feel about someone sampling your work? I’m not asking this in a “how could you steal, imagine how pissed you’d be, blah blah, rage” way at all. I’m asking it in a “do I have permission to work with a sound you have created for a different song?” way. I’m not saying I will, just that I’d like to. I listen to the beat or melody of some of your songs and I just hear more layers and different lyrics in my head. I’m curious if I can create them in reality. You can reach me at the email I gave any time; no rush.

Hello Jyoti, I have taken over ten years to do this but thanks for making your shit in the way that you did, I was still at school when I first heard your tune, ‘Your Woman’ It was before the charting and I remember saying “this is going to number one” that sunday it did.
I am still inspired by your methods, ten years on and I’m starting to produce some produce.
You can document my progress here > http://www.myspace.com/benedituk
I would also like to ask where I might get some stems from for the song ‘You Woman’ as I would love to remix it, I’m sure you still have them tucked away somewhere, feel free to email me which ever the answer may be thanks.

I just want to say thank you for writing an amazing song in ‘Your Woman’ which takes me back to being a teenager and some incredibly happy days listening to it!

Hi,
The melody haunts my reverie. Loved the style in which “Your woman” video was made. Reminded me of Gaslights and surrealistic L’Age d’Or.
What was the location and inspiration for it?

Hello!
I have heard “Your Woman”, and I really like it. Is it in any way possible to do a remix of it? I am new to interacting with professional musicians, and I have no idea on how to contact you in another way.
So I kind of feel pathetic, and do believe I will hardly get an answer.
Thank you and love from Italy,
Gregorio

dear jyoti,
not to mention i love your attitude in your blog. keep up the great work!
i discovered “your woman” about six months ago when it was playing on the radio and instantly fell in love. it oddly matched how i was feeling, and i’ve listened to it nonstop since. then i found your blog about 2 months later, discovered your other music, and have to say it all sounds great!!

Dear Jyoti,
I wanted to tell you that I think “Woman In Technology” is a masterpiece. I willingly admit that I picked up the CD (in 2006, mind you) because of “Your Woman”. I remembered hearing that song and on the radio and loving it. I got to my car and very eagerly played it. I always have this OCD ritual thing about playing a CD from start to finish the first time I play it instead of impatiently going straight to the hit song. I’m so glad I did because I could not believe my ears. I fell irrevocably in love with the album in its entirety and with each song individually. This album was way ahead of its time. My only regret is that I did not get this CD when it first came out. It is absolutely amazing. You are a genius. I cannot sing enough praise, but I can say this: thank you. Thank you for composing these melodies and thank you for sharing your gift with the rest of the world. I look forward to hearing the rest of your inspiring repertoire and anxiously await further debuts.
Sublimely yours,
~Sheyanne~*

Dear Jyoti,
Recently I re-discovered my love for the album “Women In Technology” and it’s even better than I remember.
I was around 10 years old when my aunt let me borrow the cassette, and I listened to the entire album over and over and over.
While I didn’t really understand the lyrics and exact meanings of the songs, there was something magical about the album. Instantly “Thursday at the Blue Note” became my favorite simply because I misheard the lyrics as “Oh no! The phone broke!” Other favorites include White Town, Wanted, and Going Nowhere Somehow. But really I do love the album entirely.
Listening to it today brings back memories of one of the best times of my life. Slowly the real meanings of the lyrics have put themselves together. Turns out the phone did not break.
Thank you for Women in Technology.

Hey there!
I don´t know if you will read this, but I´m so happy to have found your song, finally.
You see, when I first heard it back in 1997 I was 14 years old…years went by and I forgot your song, as I did with so many others.
But then, in 2004 I heard it again, and again, and again because there was a program in a radio station and every time they had a I met this guy who loved your song but he didn´t know what it´s name was. So we looked for it so much, and we didn´t have a clue. Even though I didn´t forget the rythm and kept on searching.
And TODAY, only today I found a link to the video you have in youtube. I found it in a page where you can ask for the name of a song, and there it was.
After listening your song again and again, I got here…to your page and I noticed that you are Indian. What a coincidence (no, I´m not Indian) but I love India´s culture. I like artists as Lata Mangeshkar and Ustaad Sultan Khanand many others. I knew them because I like Bollywood movies and those artists are the stars of the soundtrack in many movies that I´ve seen.
So, that was all I wanted to say.
Congrats on you work, good luck and be happy with your family.
By the way, I´m from Colombia (South America), I´m 26 now. Greetings from this tropical country.
