I’ve finally set up a White Town Bandcamp page so peeps can buy directly from me! So far, there’s only one release on it: a special, Bandcamp-exclusive ‘Cut Out My Heart’ EP that includes this video:

So, have a click, have a listen and, if you decide to buy it, thank you! :-)

Paris Gig & DJing!

I’m very chuffed to say that in around a fortnight, I’ll be playing my first ever gig in Paris:

Another Sunny Night #5: Panama (FR) + The Starlets (UK) + White Town (UK)
L’International, Paris
5/7 rue Moret

Thanks very much to Joanny Davier and the other ASN peeps for inviting me!

Oh! And I’m DJing the night before, the 13th, at the Planete Mars Club (details here). Very excited about that, too!

PARRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Hangover Lounge Gig & EP

HAngover lounge
Click for some blurry phone pics.

On Sunday, I played The Hangover Lounge again and it was a bit strange… well, my bit was. The wonderful Rozi Plain and Nat Johnson who played before me weren’t strange at well. They both played delicate, intimate sets and you should check out their stuff immediately. The gig was for the launch of the second Hangover Lounge EP, which I’m honoured to be on with an acoustic version of my track ‘Cut Out My Heart’ (original synthpop version here).

So, Rozi and Nat both performed flawlessly and then, my turn. Well, I’ve been quite unsettled since my final divorce came through a few weeks ago and singing such intense, private songs was very, very hard. I made it through though, having my tiny ginger mate Kaypea in the front row helped loads.

It’s a question of balance: if one is too relaxed, not nervous at all, one can fall into an autopilot gig mode, not meaning anything one is singing. On the other hand, when I finished, my hands were trembling for a couple of minutes. I meant every word. Perhaps too much.

Ah well, people said they enjoyed the gig so that’s the main thing. But if it was a little claustrophobic, my apologies. Normal service will be resumed when my brain allows. :-)

Oh, nearly forgot:

That’s Nat guesting on ‘Your Woman.’ What a beautiful voice!

‘Your Woman’ Number 1 On The US iTunes Electronic Singles Chart

So, since yesterday, my song’s been at Number One in the US electronic singles chart on iTunes. I thought it was some strange blip and it’d get knocked off but it’s still there!

I’m doing better than Owl City, Duck Sauce and The Postal Service! :-)

How strange? I wonder if it was on some TV show or something?

I still think it’s some error or glitch. :-)

White Town Facebook Page Demographics

demoooeeeee

FB have just changed the way band pages are, they’ve moved them into being more inline with the new-ified profile pages. As I was running all over the shop, posting as White Town and then replying as Jyoti Mishra, I stopped to look at the pretty charts of demographics.

I love the one above. Pretty weird, huh? Apparently, I’m the least popular with people my own age. :-)

(Or, maybe there just aren’t that many people my age on FB compared to kids.)

New Song And Video – ‘Cut Out My Heart’

Hello! Although I’ve been doing a lot of moping and licking my wounds, I’ve also been busy with music. And video! Check out what I’ve been up to:

I shot the vid on my lovely 5Dmk 2 and finished the edit (in iMovie) this Monday night, around 3.30am. So, it’s hot off the… er… Mac Pro?

The song pretty much sums up where I am now, it’s a snapshot of my emoness, I’ve just snuggled that negativity in quite an upbeat-sounding wrapper. It’s from my new album which should be coming out some time in early ’11.

Thanks to Kelly and Nat for agreeing to star in it and braving the cold!

Elizabeth Allo Darlin’ Singing ‘Your Woman’

If you’ve been paying close attention, you will have read my ramble about playing a totally acoustic gig at The Hangover Lounge recently.

Well, here’s a little video of Elizabeth from Allo Darlin’ and I practising for when she sang ‘Your Woman’ in my set. Hope you like it, despite the gormy faces I’m making! :-)
